A new trans-Atlantic space initiative has launched, linking Texas and France in an ambitious effort to fuel startup growth, drive research and forge international partnerships. Announced at the 2025 ASCENDxTexas event Feb. 27, the Texas-France Space Hub aims to unite academic institutions and private enterprises, expanding commercial space presence in both countries.

Strong, lightweight, superelastic, and able to function across a range of temperatures, this newly developed alloy could be a game-changer for space exploration and medical technology.

The electronic interaction between electron-deficient inner surface of graphene layers and Fe species modifies the surface electronic structure of χ-(Fe_xCo_1-x)₅C₂, thereby improving CO₂ adsorption capacity and enhancing the efficient conversion of CO₂ and moderate C-C coupling. FeCoK@C exhibited unprecedented C_2-4⁼ space time yield.

Scientists at Penn State have harnessed a unique property called incipient ferroelectricity to create a new type of computer memory that could revolutionize how electronic devices work, such as using much less energy and operating in extreme environments like outer space.  

The more powerful they get, traditional curved lenses used in telescopes become bigger and bulkier. University of Utah engineers create the first flat telescope lens that can capture color while detecting light from faraway stars. This technology could transform astrophotography imaging systems, especially in applications where space is at a premium, such as on aircraft, satellites and space-based telescopes.

A groundbreaking study Led by Dr. DENG Hongping of the Shanghai Astronomical Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences has shed new light on the mysterious origins of free-floating planetary-mass objects—celestial bodies with masses between stars and planets. 

Aerospace engineering senior Philip Wilson attended an American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) conference. Rohit Raut, a senior physics major, presented his work at a nuclear research symposium, and senior biology major Jaden Rankin had the opportunity to feature her research at an entomology conference. These and other University of Texas at Arlington students were able to showcase their original research at major symposiums thanks to UTA’s expansion of its popular undergraduate research program that provides funding for select students to present at academic conferences.
