A fundamental rethink of how the NHS trains its future workforce is urgently needed, according to a new paper from the Higher Education Policy Institute (www.hepi.ac.uk), Rethinking Placement: Increasing Clinical Placement Efficacy for a Sustainable NHS Future (HEPI Report 194).

The results show that students found a hypothetical professor who publicly acknowledged feelings of being an impostor to be less hirable than an equally accomplished faculty member who did not make the same disclosure. The findings have implications for faculty development and retention strategies as well as mentorship activities with students. They could also apply to leaders working in many capacities as they aim to demonstrate vulnerability in the name of building trust within their teams. The research was published in Scholarship of Teaching and Learning in Psychology.

A cutting-edge consortium project called Understanding large and cOmplex Power sYstems (UTOPYS) will enable researchers to build the world’s largest research cluster for real-time energy system studies. The project is led by Principal Investigator Prof. Peter Palensky of TU Delft, and is comprised of eight Dutch research organisations, and SURF - the IT cooperative of education and research. It has been awarded a huge grant of 16.5 million euros through the Large-Scale Research Infrastructure (LSRI) programme of the Dutch Research Council (NWO). 

A Dartmouth study finds that AI can deliver educational support that meets the individual needs of large numbers of students. The researchers are among the first to report that students may put more trust in platforms programmed to pull answers from only curated expert sources, but also highlight challenges educators may face in implementing generative AI chatbots.
