FAMU-FSU Engineering joins Mayo Clinic to research Alzheimer’s disease treatments

Researchers from Mayo Clinic Florida, Florida State University and the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering are collaborating to develop innovative treatments for Alzheimer’s disease.

In research published in Advanced Healthcare Materials, they developed a more accurate cellular model for brain disease research, a tool that could help scientists create better treatments for patients.

A novel artificial intelligence (AI) model accurately detected the presence of placenta accreta spectrum (PAS), a dangerous pregnancy condition that often goes undetected with current screening methods, according to new research presented today at the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine (SMFM) 2026 Pregnancy Meeting™.  PAS is a leading cause of maternal mortality and morbidity, but only half of all cases are diagnosed during pregnancy, researchers say.

Frontier simulations test turbulence theories at record 35 trillion grid points

Using the Frontier supercomputer at the Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory, researchers from the Georgia Institute of Technology have performed the largest direct numerical simulation (DNS) of turbulence in three dimensions, attaining a record resolution of 35 trillion grid points.

RESEARCH: New sound-based 3D-printing method enables finer, faster microdevices

Concordia researchers have advanced their earlier 3D sound printing breakthrough with a new proximal sound printing technique that places the sound source closer to the material, enabling 10× finer, faster microscale structures. Using focused ultrasound, it improves precision, repeatability and power efficiency for microdevices in healthcare and sensing.
