A research team led by The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) has achieved a groundbreaking quantum simulation of the non-Hermitian skin effect in two dimensions using ultracold fermions, marking a significant advance in quantum physics research.

Researchers at the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture and the USDA Agricultural Research Service have received a more than $324,000 grant from the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture to develop efficient monitoring systems for insect infestations in grain storage and large-scale food processing facilities.

LSU and Pennington Biomedical Research Center’s Dr. Stephania Cormier joined colleagues Dr. Lawrence Kauvar of Trellis Bioscience Inc. and Dr. Ralph Tripp of the University of Georgia as topic editors on the Frontiers in Immunology research collaboration, “How RSV Outsmarts the Host,” focusing on challenges surrounding Respiratory Syncytial Virus, or RSV.

RSV is a respiratory pathogen that causes respiratory tract disease in approximately 64 million people worldwide and results in 160,000 deaths annually.

Technicians have successfully integrated NASA’s Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope’s payload –– the telescope, instrument carrier, and two instruments –– to the spacecraft that will deliver the observatory to its place in space and enable it to function while there.
