Scientists create a floss pick that samples cortisol within saliva as a marker of stress and quantifies it with a built-in electrode. The system uses a polymer casting technology that can be adapted to capture a wide a range of markers, such as estrogen for tracking fertility, or glucose for tracking diabetes. Hyperspectral and RGB data fusion is becoming increasingly popular for Earth remote sensing applications. In this direction, a team of researchers from the Rochester Institute of Technology has developed a bimodal video imaging platform leveraging this fusion technique and examined its performance by utilizing data of dynamic near-shore waters. The proposed technology successfully predicts hyperspectral image frames using RGB video input, enabling the technology for next-generation applications.

Significantly surpassing their single-junction counterparts in power-conversion efficiency (PCE), two-terminal perovskite/silicon tandem solar cells have emerged as a game-changer in photovoltaics. However, due to the lack of effective optimisation of the device interface to maximise charge extraction efficiency and reduce energy loss, their widespread application has been limited. Researchers of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) have pioneered a novel bilayer interface passivation strategy to develop tandem solar cells that achieve a record-high PCE of 33.89%, representing a milestone in the development of solar technology.

Antonio Bicchi has been selected as one of the recipients of the 2025 Pioneer in Robotics and Automation Award from the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society (RAS), the leading robotics association worldwide, for his “pioneering fundamental contributions to artificial hands, haptics, and human-robot collaboration, and for their applications in robotics and prosthetics.” The award ceremony took place on May 22nd during the 2025 International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA) in Atlanta, USA. Antonio Bicchi is a Senior Researcher at the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT - Italian Institute of Technology) and a Professor at the University of Pisa in Italy.
