Researchers at the University of Osaka discovered FoeAB, a previously unknown bacterial pump that exports the antibiotic fosfomycin. By combining transport experiments with cryo-electron microscopy, the team revealed how the protein recognizes and moves the drug across the cell membrane. The findings expand understanding of antibiotic efflux in Gram-positive bacteria and could support new strategies to counter drug resistance and improve treatment of bacterial infections.
Teenagers who come from households with a lower income and lower level of education are more likely to have an eating disorder, finds a new study co-led by UCL researchers.

- Activates T cells' "function-preserving switch" to sustain anti-cancer function even during prolonged combat with cancer.
- In mouse glioma models, combination with anti-PD-1 immunotherapy — which releases the 'brake' cancer cells impose on immune cells — enhances treatment efficacy and points to the potential to suppress recurrent brain tumors
Dopamine has long been considered central to understanding anhedonia – the loss of pleasure, interest and motivation that is a common feature of depression and other mental health conditions. However, a new international expert reportpublished in BMJ Mental Health suggests that dopamine alone cannot explain the condition and that future research must look beyond a single biological pathway.
