About the Study: In this cohort study, participation in mandatory value-based payment programs was associated with increased hospital administrative costs. These findings suggest that policymakers should consider administrative burden when designing and evaluating payment reforms to ensure that anticipated improvements in cost, quality, and access are not offset by increased complexity.

Dr. Emmanuella Amoako, a pediatric oncologist advancing childhood cancer care in Ghana, has been named the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation’s (IHME) 2026 Roux Prize winner. The prize honors her leadership as Lead Pediatric Oncologist at Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, where she has built evidence-driven services that improve early diagnosis, expand access to treatment, and strengthen locally led research. It also recognizes her broader work across Ghana to advance early detection, workforce development, national research collaboration, and African-led evidence for precision oncology.

Tarik F. Haydar, PhD, professor and chair of the department of anatomy & neurobiology at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, along with  Nobuyuki Ishibashi, MD, professor of anatomy & neurobiology, have been awarded a five-year, Multiple Principal Investigators RO1 grant from the National Institutes of Health. The $3.2 million award will fund their project, “Decoding neural precursors’ role in shaping the convoluted fetal cortex.”

The study, "Green Analytical Chemistry and Metrics for Sustainable Pharmaceuticals: A Comprehensive Review," was carried out by K. Archana, G. Vigneshwaran, and M. Sumithra in the Journal of Current Topics in Chemistry.

A new comprehensive review maps twenty years of progress in green analytical chemistry, critically evaluates the tools currently used to measure how environmentally sound a pharmaceutical testing method is, and makes the case that no single tool is sufficient — calling instead for an integrated multi-metric approach that covers the full environmental, safety, and resource footprint of analytical practice in the pharmaceutical industry.
