About The Study: Based on nationwide, high-quality, population-based mortality data supplemented with individual-level educational attainment, the increase in colorectal cancer (CRC) death rates among young adults was largely confined to individuals with 15 or less years’ education. As a result, the disparity in young-onset CRC mortality among individuals with 12 years or less vs 16 or more years’ education nearly doubled over the past 3 decades.

Indiana University opens its free generative AI course to anyone worldwide

Indiana University is now offering its acclaimed essential skills course in generative artificial intelligence — GenAI 101 — to everyone worldwide, free of charge.

Faculty and staff at the IU Kelley School of Business developed one of the largest generative AI courses offered by a leading research university. Since it launched in August, more than 114,000 students, staff and faculty have enrolled in GenAI 101. In October, IU expanded access to its more than 805,000 alumni worldwide; thousands have enrolled since then.

However, to most people’s surprise, many catastrophic landslides occur unexpectedly during periods of little or even no rainfall. New research published in Geology provides new insights for identifying, warning, and mitigating rainfall-free and low-rainfall landslides.

Elite MBAs still influence who reaches the top of corporate America, University of Bath study shows

New research from the University of Bath shows that graduates of elite MBA programmes, particularly the so‑called M7 super‑elite US schools, are significantly more likely to become top management team members and CEOs than those with non‑elite MBAs or no MBA at all. However, the study of more than 106,000 executives in S&P 500 companies between 2000 and 2018 showed the benefits of holding an elite MBA were not evenly spread between men, women and minorities, and altered according to the prevailing economic winds.

Pediatric Investigation study uncovers the link between academic burnout, internet gaming, and depression

Chinese researchers report that academic burnout can push adolescents towards excessive online gaming. Using a large-scale cross-sectional survey, the researchers assessed the associations among academic burnout, internet gaming, depressive symptoms, and attentional bias. They found that academic burnout can lead to depression and negative thinking, which, in turn, leads to further dependency on internet gaming. The study also emphasized the importance of improved curriculum and stress reduction programs to support the mental well-being of adolescents.
