Maternal mortality in Sierra Leone used to be among the highest in the world.  A 15-year-old non-profit programme that trains community health officers to do life-saving surgeries has helped slash that risk by two-thirds.

The study provides strong scientific evidence supporting the therapeutic use of once-weekly brisk interval walking as a convenient exercise approach for adults with central obesity, particularly for those with time constraints. Lead (Pb) contamination in agricultural soils is an invisible threat that can infiltrate food systems and jeopardize public health. 

In the paper published on Science of Traditional Chinese Medicine (STCM), the authors employed UPLC-MS/MS technology and elucidated the processing principle of rhubarb pieces based on in vivo profile of components. This study comprehensively analyzed the dynamic in vivo changes of prototype anthraquinones and their glucuronide metabolites in rhubarb from the perspectives of absorption, distribution, and excretion. It proposed that processing can reduce the exposure of components, achieve targeted distribution in the intestine, and accelerate the excretion of components, thereby clarifying the processing mechanism of 'raw rhubarb purges while steamed rhubarb moderates'. This provides a solid research perspective for the study of the processing principles of traditional Chinese medicine.

Researchers have fabricated GO-wrapped TiO₂ (GOx@TiO₂) hybrid particles at room temperature by an electrostatic self-assembly process. The construction of GO_0.005@TiO₂ and the bimodal 1G59B filler as bimodal inorganic fillers is a new approach for achieving high-strength dental composites.
