A University of Calgary study led by members of the Arnie Charbonneau Cancer Institute, published in Nature Medicine, takes a closer look at why patients often relapse after immunotherapy by studying how the myeloma cells adapt to treatment. By understanding how the cancer builds resistance, future treatments can be designed to take this into account with the goal of preventing another relapse.
Five early-career scientists have been named recipients of the 2026 BioOne Ambassador Award, an annual honor recognizing early-career scientists who excel at communicating their work to broader audiences, fostering public understanding and appreciation of science.
Now in its ninth year, the award highlights rising talent within the BioOne community of 157 scientific societies and publishing partners. BioOne Ambassadors are nominated by BioOne publishing partners, and each winning author receives a $1,000 award and has their work recognized in the BioOne Ambassador Award showcase.
Researchers have reviewed the challenges and prospects of real-world battery status prediction within Industry 4.0, highlighting how lithium-ion battery diagnostics must adapt to dynamic operating environments, heterogeneous data, and growing demands for intelligent, real-time decision-making. The review focuses on battery charge, health, lifespan, and safety prediction across applications including portable devices, electric vehicles, and energy storage systems.
