Strategic reserve management in property & casualty insurance
KeAi Communications Co., Ltd.This study is pleased to present a seminal study examining reserve management strategies across 45197 company-line-year observations from 2000-2012. The research pioneers line-of-business-level analysis to disentangle insurers' multidimensional incentives—tax optimization versus solvency management—through structural reserve adjustments. Employing two-way clustered fixed-effects models and regulatory policy shocks, the study establishes causal evidence of strategic reserve allocation patterns previously undocumented in actuarial literature.

Intelligent model for rapid blast load prediction on complex buildings
Higher Education PressResearchers from Nanjing University of Science and Technology have developed a novel computational method called BlastGraphNet, which uses graph neural networks to predict the distribution of blast loads on complex 3D buildings. This data-driven approach offers significant improvements in accuracy and efficiency compared to traditional methods, with potential applications in structural design, civil defense, and safety assessments. The study, published in Engineering, demonstrates the model’s ability to provide rapid and precise predictions of blast loads, supporting more effective risk management and engineering solutions.

Transformative nutrition: the role of food in an inflammatory skin disease
Escuela Superior Politecnica del LitoralWhat happens on the skin often begins much deeper. In women living with chronic inflammation, pain, and recurrent skin lesions, the root of the problem may be linked to hormonal, immune, and metabolic imbalances. This is the case with hidradenitis suppurativa (HS), a condition that goes far beyond dermatology and severely impacts quality of life. In this context, nutrition emerges as a key tool—not as a miracle cure, but as a powerful ally to reduce symptoms, control flares, and regain well-being.

Balancing quietness and performance: New trade-off optimization framework enhances propeller design for next-gen aircraft
Tsinghua University PressPropeller-driven aircraft are gaining renewed attention for sustainable aviation. Yet balancing efficiency with noise reduction remains a critical challenge—especially for emerging platforms such as eVTOL and hybrid-electric aircraft. Researchers from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics have developed a new optimization framework based on the unsteady adjoint method that successfully addresses this trade-off. Their work offers a powerful tool for designing quieter, more efficient propellers, paving the way for the next generation of low-emission, low-noise aviation.

What leads some mothers to perinatal depression?
BIAL FoundationA study followed the paths of mothers with perinatal depression. It concluded that high sensitivity to internal and external stimuli can increase the risk of depression, while partner support during pregnancy has a protective effect.
